They felt a *little bit* small. Not quite a half size smaller, but.... If you're hiking you want to make sure your toes don't ram into the end of the boot when you're going downhill. So if in doubt, get a half-size up. In addition, many years of hiking have taught me that you MUST have waterproof boots. Period. Especially up here in the soggy Pacific Northwest. So I was happy to see that these are waterproof.

Good fit and comfortable. I think they will wear in well once I get some miles on them.

The order says Dark Chocolate/Purple, but I received a Dark Chocolate/Black. What attracted me to the shoe was the functions as well as the purple shoe laces. My favorite color. Overall, size 6 feels a bit big. I haven't tried the shoes with my hiking socks yet so will update review later. I like the texture of the shoe. Looks like the dirt will be able to slide right off easily. Will need to test it out. The shoes feel a bit chunky and big on my small feet. I'm 4'11" and petite. I might return and get a 5.5.

Usually when reviews say something runs small I don't find it true for me, but these definitely run about 1/4 to 1/2 size small. The toe box is narrow, probably even if I got a size up. The heel was wide and loose even in the too-small size. The tongue is sewn to the sides until about halfway up, like most hiking shoes, except there are no gussets near the top so it won't tuck down into the sides of the shoe properly. The treads are deeper than a sidewalk walking shoe, but not as deep as I'd like for real trail walking. Plenty of padding around all the usual rub points, so it seems like a comfortable shoe if it fit.

Really great & quality, color. Sadly, i wasn't able to get my foot in them. I have MS and need a firmer material. Judy

I bought these shoes to walk around in on my trip to Mexico. I wear a children's 4 or a woman's 5 normally. I have short wide feet so women's 5 are usually too narrow for me. I purchased a 5 in these and they fit great. I often struggle to find the right comfort level--to be honest I'm not sure what I need as shoes with too much support seem to bother me as much as no support, but I found these sandals to be perfect. I did not try them out prior to my trip as I should have but it didn't seem to matter. I walked all around two days of my trip in them (he rest of the days I laid by the beach) and I didn't have any issues with them. So glad I got them!!

Great fit and comfort without the clunky look of most sports sandals. The green/grey neutral color goes with just about everything. I've walked a long way in these and no discomfort at all.

I love the way that they look and feel on - lightweight, almost like nothing is on your foot. I'm hoping that they are a good walking sandal! They do feel narrower than a B width, which is fine for me because I have narrow feet and I love that they are adjustable in at the heel, arch, and toes.

Wow! These guys fit great from day 1! Wore them at work to break them in but almost felt like I didn't have to. Heard many stories that these were easy to break in, but didn't believe it. Boy was I wrong...

I wore these all day and my feet didn't feel bad at all. I was pleasantly surprised with how light they were. It was muddy out when we went hiking, so I was afraid of how weighed down they would be, but overall happy with the boots given the price. My mind might change in year from now, but for now they are great boots!

Super light weight; love the color; the top is just too stiff around my ankle. it would take too long to break it in

As other reviews said, this runs SMALL. I usually by an 8, but really a 7.5 is generally adequate, I just like some extra toe room. So I bought an 8 figuring it would be fine if it ran a little small. But really it's more like a 7. My toes go to the edge of the shoe. But it is actually pretty comfortable, the padding inside is nice and nothing seems to rub the wrong way. I haven't worn them outside yet because I'm not sure if I'm going to keep them, but inside they seem pretty decent. I just wish they were even just 1/4" longer.

So far the reviews are divided on whether these are light or heavy. I found them very heavy and also weak on arch support, allowing me to pronate even in such sturdy boots. If you don't need arch support these might be for you. They definitely support the whole foot and ankle well otherwise.

I had a good experience with these boots, due to Zappos' excellent customer service, mainly. I bought them days before I was to go on retreat. The site, at the time, had a "timer," saying that they'd arrive in two days--which was two days before I left on retreat. Well, when they didn't come, I contacted customer service, and the kindly rep gave me a $25 credit, canceled the pair that was sent to me regular mail, and reordered a pair sent overnight. They arrived just before I left on retreat--and for my inconvenience, they were gifted to me. I had paid $65 for them, as I had a discount coupon from before. Well, they were uncomfortable--I am guessing hiking boots are not for me, after all, after wearing sneakers and mules for years--and I offered to return them. But, since they didn't cost me anything, I was told I could give them away, which I did. What is more is that the $65 I would have spent on them were credited to a pair of Merrell Encore Breeze 3 mules, which I have bought from this site, several times, already. That, along with the $25 credit already on my account from when the first pair didn't arrive on time, rendered my mules free of charge. I have had to exchange them twice now, but the credits keep rolling over. Such great customer service!

Bought these for my husband. Started with a 10 (his usual size) but had to return them for 10.5. The 10.5 seem to be fine. I bought the women's style for myself and needed a half size larger also. Very nice boots and very good price for not -too- frequent hikers!

Great boot for the price point. I've purchased several Hi-Tech boots over the years and this one is not quite as well made as the last I purchased but it was over $100 so I'm not complaining. I use them for waterproof work boots around water all day and they have always served me well.

These boots are amazing! They are very fashionable, comfortable and felt true to size giving me the option of wearing socks of varied thickness. I will be going to Boston soon and can't wait to try them out on tough weather. As soon as I put them on they felt comfortable and did not feel very heavy while walking.

I ordered a 9, my regular size, and they were a bit tight. I exchanged them for the 9.5, and they seem perfect. I wear a 9.5 in Skechers, too, so it must be activity type shoes. I found a very old pair of HiTecs in my closet, and they were 9.5, too. Also, we ordered the same (mens) boots for my husband and he had to exchange his for a half-size larger. My boots are very cute, and seem comfortable. Have just worn them around the house because we are planning a trip to Yosemite and thought waterproof boots would be a good idea. I remember I really liked the other HiTecs, and they are priced very reasonably.

The wide isn't wide enough. I ordered wide width and a full size larger than usual, and my toes were still slightly cramped. My feet are not super extra wide, either, just normally wide. Otherwise, this shoe appears well-made. It feels firm and supportive in the footbed. I have high arches and don't need arch support, but the footbed felt natural and unobtrusive--which means it's probably lacking in arch support. Also, the ankles rubbed painfully. I wore them for about five minutes around the house and already my ankles felt rubbed and soon to be bruised. So overall, not a great boot for me, but the firm-but-cushioned footbed is enough to leave me willing to try another style in this brand.
