Fits like a glove around my foot and that really helps to keep my heel from moving or my toes getting scrunched when going up and down inclines. Has a lot of support and protection underneath when hiking over rocky ground. Couldn't be more pleased. It's almost impossible for me to find hiking shoes that fit well and avoid blisters but these really do "fit like a glove".

Great snug fit, grip, and styling. Haven't put many miles on these yet but so far they are very comfortable and stable.

This is my second pair of Salewa's. My first pair have held up great over the past year and a half, and I expect this new pair to do the same. Salewa's have great construction. The shoe comes with two insoles: Normal and Narrow. The Narrow insole is awesome and is one of the main reasons I bought this pair (and my last pair): I have B-width feet and the narrow insole takes up room along the side of the shoe, giving me a great fit. Kudos to Salewa for this outstanding concept. These shoes to be very comfortable from the first time I walked in them. Highly recommended.

These are fantastic boots. They're comfortable, supportive, and attractive (as far as hiking boots go). I bought them for a recent trip to Argentina and Chile that included the "W" Trek in Patagonia and hikes in the Atacama Desert. I never got a blister (I did proactively treat a few hot-spots) and my feet felt good even after a 16 mile day-long hike. I have narrow, low-volume feet and based on the other reviews, it sounds like those with wider feet might do better with a different boot.

Attractive profile, but strangely narrow construction. I don't have a wide foot, but these are tapered from the middle to the very narrow toe box. Similar shape to a bullet.

Very comfortable boot to wear, but it tilts my foot inward so not the right shoe for me. Sadly my search continues.

Very happy with my new Alp Trainers. Used to hike difficult trails in winter and not at all disappointed. Great support, traction and breath-ability.

Amazing build quality and last shape. It is regretful that US market is dominated by the junk produced by the like of Keen and Merrell. These have excellent stiffness, support and structure.

This shoe has an amazing hugging fit. The fit is so "anatomical" that it feels like it runs 1/2 to a size larger then other shoes I tried.

I needed a pair of shoes that would REALLY keep my feet dry so I tried several pairs all featuring Gore-Tex. Out of a field of six this shoe was the clear winner. I had several requirements that needed to be met. I wanted a low top shoe that would be suitable not only for off road hiking but for my daily walk over asphalt, concrete and uneven pathways. I wanted a shoe that would accommodate my somewhat narrow foot and very narrow heel while also providing a generous toe box. I wanted removable inserts so that I could utilize the SuperFeet arch supports that work well for my foot. I wanted a sturdy sole that would grip well when hiking the hills and would protect the soles of my feet from rocks and roots. This shoe ticked all the boxes for me. I was unfamiliar with the climbing lacing system but quickly adapted to it and realized that it worked well in making the shoe fit my foot snugly and keep my heel from slipping without having to cinch the shoe overly tight. I did research online mostly in climbing blogs and outdoor magazines and the shoe was consistently well rated. The climbing lacing system can be replaced with tradition laces if you are not in favor of it as is. The shoe was immediately comfortable and did not require a 'breaking in' period at all. This shoe definitely justified its cost and I would recommend you give it a try.

Great looking shoes, great build. Up sized per some reviewers stating Salewa runs tight. I have fairly wide flat feet and these fit just fine width-wise.

My husband's review: My job sometimes involves hiking over varied terrain and some climbing to get on top of things. My warm weather daily shoe has been the La Sportiva Boulder X approach shoe. It's good for both daily wear as well as light hiking in the mountains. Now that the wet weather is here I needed something waterproof. I could have gone with the Boulder X in Mid, but suede doesn't last long going from wet to dry over and over. I tried the La Sportiva Core High GTX but the outsole was too flexible- bad if you have plantar fasciitis. If you suffer from that, or want to prevent it, find a shoe that bends only in the forefoot and not through the arch. The video here on Zappos for this shoe shows it bending in the forefoot while the rest of the shoe remains firm, so I ordered a pair. The to-the-toe lacing system makes it easy to adjust the fit as your feet swell during the day; not too loose in the morning or too tight in the evening. This is NOT a boot if you were wondering; it's a high-top approach shoe. The collar that wraps around your ankle provides only minimal support; it's more for ankle protection than support. They also like to be cinched down tighter than some people are used to, so if you feel your heel moving around try tightening them properly. I wore these all day over dry, wet, and icy terrain and the soles provided sure footing. The only time I lost traction was on some glare sheet ice in a shady part of the parking lot, and nothing short of metal studs would have helped there. FIT: I wear a mens size 10 and the mens size 10 fit perfectly. PROS: The soles are super sticky. My heel stays planted in the heel cup when I step off. Very light on your feet. Waterproof and all synthetic so they'll survive the wet-to-dry cycles. Simple lacing system that allows a lot of adjustment. Look great. CONS: None unless you need a lot of ankle support.

I liked the hiking shoe and I just wish it would have fit. I assumed that the mens' sizing would automatically make it wider than women's sizes but in this case it was not wide enough.

The best shoes I've ever worn! It fits like a glove... Unbelievable! It holds my feet as a ski boot without pressure. I recommend this shoe for any use, all around. Thanks Salewa!!! Keep up the good work! ;)

I ordered 4 pairs of trail running shoes and these are the ones I kept. In comparison they left the others in the dust in terms of comfort. I love the minimalist feel of the top and the way that it wraps perfectly around the top of my foot. The soles are super grippy and grab the trail for a very secure, no-slip experience while running or walking. My foot feels amazing in this shoe. The widening of the sole at the bottom makes my stance secure and balanced which helps counteract my tendency to tilt my feet outwards. The sole seems to be made by Michelin as it says 'Michelin' on the back and bottom of the rubber. Not sure if I like that it says that on the back. I also don't love the bright pink mixed with purple. A personal preference which is why I only gave it 4 stars on style. I wish women's shoes didn't have to be so bright and colorful. Other than that this shoe is quite amazing and makes me feel like I can run faster. It is the perfect blend of total protection and solid construction with a light barefoot feel.

The stitching in the Vamp to toe area caused friction with pinky toes on both sides. Blister! The sole offes good traction, both ascending and descending. The friction blister occurred on descent. The welt is rigid but comfortable and adds stability. I would return them if I could but I already used them on a 5 mi hike today.

I've owned a number of Salewa shoes and I've always been impressed with their quality and design. I've worn this pair (Alpine Road) for about two weeks now and I like them a lot. They have a sturdy feel without being blocky or boot like. It's been my experience that the Salewa brand is a little narrower and a little smaller in size than your average brand so I always order a half size bigger and have always been satisfied.

An exceptionally comfortable shoe, due to soft suede, a very cushioned footbed, and the Gore-Tex surround technology. Can't speak to durability yet but they seem to be very well made. I found them to very true to US/EU size, not at all running large as some other reviewers have felt. I would prefer that they had a wider toe box, they are a bit narrow for me, but the softness of the suede makes up for that. They come with laces in two colors. First impression is that they are a great combination of a casual and an athletic shoe.

I followed the reviews and chose one full size smaller than my usual size 8. Perfect! I love these. They look cool and keep my feet dry even in a driving NYC rain.

These may be my favorite shoes of all time. I have really hot feat and this new Gore-tex Surround waterproof/breathable (including the sole) is amazing. I will try to find Gore-Tex Surround whenever/wherever I can.
