Dan Post Reviews
These are the most comfortable and soft boots I have bought. I get so many compliments from guys! They go well with my blue jeans... they are awesome and all the boots that I've bought from Zappos are more prettier than the next pair and the price is right and they are such professionalism when it comes to ordering. I must have at least fifteen pairs of cowboy boots in all colors. I think these desert sun boots are a top favorite with me. Lisa
First off, Zappos.com are the nicest people to work with! Got my boots here pronto! Now, the boots...I love them! Perfect fit (with a pair of socks on); comfortable right out of the box - nice soft leather; and they are gorgeous! They look just like the picture...& like I've been riding a while in them, which is just fine with me ('cause I'm a city girl). Think I might sleep in 'em tonight!
I have had these boots for a year now and they are the greatest thing that has come into my life in that time period. I came back to buy another pair before I couldn't get them anymore....so sad that they don't have them in the brown that I had originally bought them in. Also, they must of gotten real popular as the price has gone up considerably.
I bought these to wear to my daughter's wedding. They were nicer than I expected and very comfortable.
I absolutely love these boots, bought them elsewhere for less, but they appear to be authentic since I tried them on in a western store. I have worn 7 in most regular shoes for years, I got 6½ in these based on reviews that I saw on Zappos and other places. They stretched out a little and are perfect now. My daughter has the similar kid style and loves them, wears them to school and to ride horses.
The boots are pretty but they are darker brown than they appear online and the blue, green and red in the flowers and bluebird inlays is so subtle that it's almost not noticeable. The inlays don't stand out at all and just sort of blend in with the brown. That said, they are still pretty boots and the fit is good. If you're looking for a fancy boot, I'd look somewhere else. But if you want a basic, pretty boot that will go with just about anything, these will work. They also have more of a distressed look to them than is apparent in the photos.
I wore the boots the first day to the airport for a weekend get away. I had no problems. I did insert a gel foot pad because the inner sole felt too flat/hard. I would love a pair in black. I love them!
I have been searching for comfortable cowboy boots that I didn't have to endure the pain associated with the breaking in period, these are it! I wore them to work right out of the box and I walk a lot! Perfect look and perfect fit! My go to comfort shoe!
Magnificent! Comfy right out of the box. Accommodates moderately wide calves (11 inch shaft helps, since it's shorter than the 13 inches that other "dressy" boots have). I wear an 8.5 wide, and a 9m was perfect. Note: I wear hand knit socks with them, so your mileage may vary. Plenty of room in the toe box. Elegant looking, too.
The style is super cute but unfortunately they did not work for me. As another review stated they are tight in the calves, but they were too loose around the ankle and at the toe. I wear a size 6 (which is the smallest they make) and I am a petite (5' and 105 pounds) with athletic calves but they dug in and were not comfortable! I am still looking for great boots.
These boots were absolutely fabulous! The fit is a bit narrow but because I have a narrow foot and slim calf they were just perfect. Most boots I find that the calf part of my leg is swimming in them. If you have a wider foot or larger calf area you might not find these such a good fit. I found that they broke in very nicely. I get a lot of compliments on these boots! I live them!
These are great boots and I want to dispel the notion created by another reviewer that the leather is "thin". The leather is very nice goatskin, of normal thickness and is pliable and soft, especially the lining. The leather is one of the several good things about this boot. It also isn't delicate or fragile, as stated by another negative reviewer. The toes have reinforcement or backing which I can see as a slight bump on the lower toe of the right boot (but not the other). This bothered me at first but I've come to ignore it because it's very slight and in fact gives the boot strength. Given that I love these boots and wear them constantly, I was incensed at the misleading negative reviews. There is no arch support but there usually isn't in boots or in many shoes.
I love these boots...wore them all day the first day I had them. Very easy to get in and out of. I tried several other cowboy boot styles and returned them all...too hard to get in and out of...these are perfect. Zappos customer service should be canonized!
These boots are a fantastic reinterpretation of the classic 1940s Gene Autry bluebird boots, in a much more wearable color than the original wild yellow and bright blue. The delicate hearts and scallops give the design an almost Alpine look. Note that the boots have an overall layer of antiquing applied, so the inlays are much more muted than as shown in the photo, and look more like shades of brown. My biggest issue with these boots is the finish--I must first point out that I didn't buy these from Zappos and instead found them at a deep discount from another retailer, so my pair could very well be factory seconds. But, the very first time I wore them, lots of the finish rubbed off the boots (even just where the cuff of my jeans was touching them), exposing the bare leather underneath. This may have been an attempt to give the leather a more authentic distressed look. But, after just a couple of hours on my feet, they had more wear on them than any of my 60 and 70-year-old vintage boots. The weathering looks nice; the boots now look like they've seen their share of rodeos. But I prefer to wear out my boots the old-fashioned way. I put a couple of heavy coats of Bee Natural distressed leather conditioner on them, and it's slowed down (but not stopped altogether) the accelerated aging. If you don't buy from a retailer with easy returns like Zappos, be cautious about these if you like your boots in pristine condition. Finally, my foot is on the long and narrow side, and I would have been better off with a half-size smaller.
Somebody must have bought a pair of these other than me, but no one has reviewed them yet, so I will. I loved them in the pic, and I loved them in front of me. Problem is, I couldn't get them on while wearing socks (the shaft, not the foot), and I couldn't get them off without help. I'm too old to go through all that. And at their price point, though probably well worth it, they're too expensive to sit in the closet. The colors, the workmanship, the ruggedness and the foot-fit were second to none, but I had to return them, much to my chagrin. Don't be disuaded by my silliness... give them a chance. If you are inclined to love the look and the pic and you have time to break them in to a smooth pull-on, you'll have a boot no one else has. Gorgeous! True story. I hated to part with them, but I just had to.
These have the most amazing look and feel. You can wear them like tennis shoes. I wear between a 7½ and 8. I went with an 8. I wish I went with the 7½ instead. But I could not bear to send them back I was waiting for them and it took over two weeks for me to get them. Bu I still love them!
Love these boots! Comfortable, hot looking, true to size. They were a little more yellowish than I anticipated.
As another reviewer has noted, these are slightly narrower in the calf than other Dan Post boots I own (great for me since I have small but muscular calves). Keep in mind that the boots do stretch the more you wear them; I've already worn mine a couple of times and already they are a bit looser around the calf. This is a great boot in a color that goes with everything--very cute with both boot cut jeans and knee length skirts!
