Manduka® is a company founded on the simple idea that a better yoga mat can make a world of difference - literally! About a decade ago, Peter Sterios, an architect turned yogi, discovered a simple, elegantly-designed black mat whose unique combination of firm grip and complete support revolutionized his yoga practice. In honor of the yoga masters who inspired him, he sought to share this amazing product with others. And in the great yoga tradition, these yoga teachers then shared their mats with their students, and a true yoga company was born. Now, the joy of Manduka® is spoken in more than 35 countries worldwide.
Manduka® mats and yoga accessories are still unrivaled in the marketplace. By using simple, enduring, natural - and whenever possible - renewable materials along with a fine attention to detail, Manduka is committed to "being green." I absolutely love this mat. I use it for all types of yoga, including hot. I did find that there was some break in time as my hands did slip a bit in the beginning. I was more than willing to deal with this due finish of the natural material. I also have to say that I use Manduka's towels for hot yoga as I would have puddles if I did not. They stay very well on this mat and I have had no problems.
What a disappointment! I intended to use this mat for hot yoga, but it's got no grip at all. My hands slip in downward dog even before I begin sweating. To make matters worse, it's so bloody heavy!I completely regret purchasing this mat. Back to a Jade mat for me. I hope my dog likes this mat.
Very grippy, and I never slip. I worried that it would be too thin, but it actually gives a good amount of support to my knees. Smells like a new yoga mat, so I'll have to clean it and air it out, but otherwise it's fantastic!
I have a Manduka Pro. Its a big heavy mat that is very difficult to manage. I had the carrier which was nice made for the mat but it was a pain to get in and out. I have been literally looking for a sling for my mat for a year. Finally I found it. This sling is beefy enough for my mat and will adjust to a long enough length to sling over my shoulder for when I bike to practice. Not to mention it's masculine...are you with me fellas in how hard it is to find yoga products for men...something that's not purple with flowers. This is worth the money... for one it has that Manduka quality which is the best and 2 because it's designed with fore thought.
Great mat! I put it out on my porch for a couple of days and the small went away. It's much lighter than my other mat, but gives excellent support.
I got the mat as a birthday gift and did not like the color at all. Autumn red is a nice description, it is more dirty brown. The mat is very heavy.
