This is the perfect black bag! I bought it knowing it would serve my life style well. I needed a nice back pack type bag for school. I'm 5'4 it fits well on my back for when I ride my bike. It also serves just as a day bag and over night bag. It has a lot of room, depending on how big your books are, you may want a wider bag. A 17 inch computer does not fit in it. Any computer smaller will fit well. It has a protective compartment for your computer as well. There are 3 outside compartments in 3 sizes. One is Narrow. Such as a "Nook" will not fit in it. It will hold a small size (narrow) book. One compartment is deeper and a cell phone will fit it and not fall out. There is one smaller size compartment. They are covered with the outside flap that is magnetic. There are 2 smaller mess pockets along with 2 other medium size pockets.

This is a pretty good bag; I was looking for something that could prevent me from schlepping 3 different bags with me on a daily basis (laptop, lunch, miscellaneous) and so far this seems to fit the bill. Note, the bag in the video seems to have a neoprene zippered computer sleeve, which would be great, and the one that I got has an open sleeve, kind of floppy for my smaller laptop. No padding on straps either (not a deal breaker for me). Good size without looking ridiculous though, which was my goal.

Best purse ever! Love all the pockets, and I love the felt lined pocket for your phone (well my phone, you could put your glasses or sunglasses there. This purse met all my requirements, crossbody, lots of pockets for organization, not too big, and room for a book or my kindle (that was the biggest requirement), oh and it's black. This is not a "pretty" purse, this is a functional purse. If you are looking for a purse to match your outfit, this is probably not the purse for you, but if you, like me, are only looking for a functional purse for everyday use, that will last you for years and years, and you'll never have to switch purses because black goes with everything, then this is the purse for you! Enjoy it, it's pretty fabulous. Oh and they sell them at REI, if you want to feel the purse or see it in person, go check them out, but buy it at Zappos, it's less expensive!

This is the best thing I bought in a long time. Going shopping is a breeze now. I love this, all the compartments are great. They even have a place to put my bottle of water so it does not spill. There are two places for the water. Nothing gets lost in this bag at the bottom, as what usually happened. There is room for everything and everything in its place. And best of all, it is light to carry even when it is all filled up. Love it and so will you.

I love this bag! I ordered it first in the special anniversary color orchid/navy, which I could not resist. Then I also ordered it in the dove gray, since the orchid/navy is going to clash with some colors. I'm still debating whether to keep both or give up the gray (my favorite neutral color). I also ordered the Bidwell to compare, but I am returning it. It's adorable, but its magnetic flap isn't as secure as the Donner's Velcro. For those who care, the "dove" gray on the Donner is lighter than the "dove" gray on the Bidwell.

I ordered both this style and Overland's Donner so I could compare and decide. The Donner seems slightly larger, and its outside "water bottle pockets" were the deciding factor. They're much easier to get to for stashing bottles, sunglasses, etc. than this bag's inside pockets. Also, the magnets on the flap seem very weak (I compared to another bag I have), and if you stash much stuff under the flap, the magnets will be out of alignment and won't hold. Minus the comparisons, however, it's a really cute, functional bag and the leather strap makes it seem much more expensive.

I really want to like this purse, but I cannot bring myself to rate it much above "meh" thanks to a few serious design flaws. Firstly, the asymmetric attachment points of the shoulder strap mean that this bag does not want to hang straight; it twists open when slung cross-body. This twist causes the male and female sides of the snap to sit about an inch away from each other. The snap is not strong enough to stay closed under this stress, so the top of the bag stays open. This is with only a modest load in the bag. The lack of a covering flap or full-length closure also invites environmental intrusions in inclement weather. Secondly, the flap covers a pocket that is wonderfully subdivided into small compartments for organizing bits and bobs, and the magnetic clasp is hugely convenient. Sadly, this pocket is shallow and the magnets' positioning do not allow any flexibility in the position of the flap when it is closed. The end result is that the flap will not stay closed if the front pocket contains much more than a cell phone. The material and craftsmanship in this bag seem darn-near bulletproof. The styling implies serious practicality, but that does not jive with its day-to-day utility. I would not buy it again.

I absolutely love this bag! It is great for travel. I used it recently for a beach vacation. I used it as a backpack in the airport, and then tucked the straps away and used it as a beach bag once I got to the resort.

Love it! Perfect size and look for the female business traveler! Fits everything with room to spare, zips up, great straps that tuck away completely when I want to use it as tote rather than a back pack. Perfect from plane to office!

I absolutely love this bag. Needed something sturdy that could hold my university books, but also that looked more grown-up than a backpack, and that zipped at the top so I wouldn't have to worry on a crowded subway. It's light-weight, looks professional, and it's big enough for all my stuff. I use it everyday during the week and it's perfect.

I bought this because I wanted to have a bigger wallet (check book type size) to keep receipts that collect in my current wallet and make it too fat. But the large Overland Equipment wallet is way too large. It is bigger than a check book size. I can even fit my phone in there with plenty of room. It is really a clutch and too big for my needs. I wanted to hang on to it because I think it would be great for travel but keeping it for that purpose when I rarely travel is wasteful. It is a very casual style and looks very durable though.

I just got this bag and I am already wondering how I lived my life without it. It is the perfect size. It is big enough for a phone, sunglasses, wallet, and the other small stuff. You will never lose your keys again after you clip them into the handy stretchy clip thing. Five stars.

Loved the bag but the slots for credit cards was too narrow on one side. The second one was just the same. I'm disappointed.

This is my all time favorite travel bag! It has a pocket for everything - cell phone, sunglasses, id's and cash. I love the water bottle pockets because I hate having things in my hands while I'm out and about. I had the original Donner, and I've upgraded to the newer version - I love this bag.

Love this bag! I used it on my last international trip and could not be happier with the size or durability. Would highly recommend, especially to travelers.

Perfect bag for traveling/sight-seeing. Plenty of pockets, easy to carry a water bottle and easy to grab your camera, phone, whatever. Small pockets for your hotel key, chapstick and car key. I've used this for 2 trips this month and it's been great; leaves your hands free and so much better than carrying a purse.

This is my third Overland band-they are made so nicely. Bought this for business in NY-looks more sleek than a regular backpack.

This satchel, with zipper-closures and quick-access outside pockets make it ideal for an active traveler. I am personally not a fan of how the Overland logo is integrated on the satchel (see picture: large obvious leather patch). I feel like it detracts from the aesthetics of the item, resulting in 4/5 stars for style. Quality of construction and materials is very good. The satchel is very comfortable to wear/use, and has a wide cross-body strap that doesn't dig.

I ordered this bag to replace an old healthy back bag. I like it. The interior is a lighter color which is helpful when trying to locate something. The pockets are handy especially the lined one for cell phones. The exterior is strong and easy to clean. The handle is different from the old bag so I am still trying to get used to it.

I love this bag! I have always been a little unorganized, lets be honest I'm lucky if I can find my wallet! This bag has been a dream. I had big changes in 2011 so I decide it was time to organize 2012! This bag has been a dream. If have found a place for everything I need to carry along with me, my date/organizer fits perfect in the inside unzipped pocket; wallet, small toiletry bag, pocket knife, handkerchief, and lets an apple fit great in the main compartment, with space to stuff in a light scarf if needed. The external pocket under the flap has a fleecy spot for phone or glasses, places for pens, a zippered pocket(which I use for a small first aid kit) and some other small storage spots. The 2 side pockets which are not very visible from the photos are great for a drink bottle (previously stated by lots of other reviews, I was a bit dubious but those pockets are great! I spent 2 months reading reviews and specs on different bags and I have no regrets with my choice! I know this is wordy but hope it helps! P.S. I do a lot of foreign travel and this bag is everything I've ever wanted in a travel 'purse'

This purse is awesome. I use the side bottle pockets for my sunglasses and reading glasses...which is the reason i wanted this purse. The pockets for organization are wonderful. I'm sending back the blackberry and exchanging for the black. This is my favorite purse company. I love this!
