Pro-Keds Reviews
Why get Converse when you can get Pro-Keds? Much better quality/support. The shoe is clean and durable, and I'd get it in more colors if I didn't have all of them already!
Great casual shoe. Handsome and versatile. Fits true to size and goes really well with jeans. Super comfortable to wear around the city.
What happen to this brand? I bought many pairs over the last 10 years or so and now the styles just aren't what they used to be. Why doesn't this classic style come in leather or faux-leather? It's only offered in canvas now. And the quality has really gone down the tubes the seems inside did some damage to my foot, there is no support and the sizing seems off too. I'm going to buy some classic shell-toe Adidas instead.
Of all the retro designs, this is probably one of the best. Shopping at Zappos making it even better!
I grew up wearing ProKeds, and I was happy to see this pair. The first thing I noticed was the canvas is very stiff in a bad way. As if you got them wet and left them in the sun to dry. So far they're not breaking in very well, but hopefully it will just be a couple days. We'll see how they stand up over the long run. I'm probably not as hard on sneakers as I used to be. Other than the stiffness thing they seem to be okay. Love the color.
These fit well, but they bite the outside of the ankle unless your leg is straight up and down. i.e. if you cross your leg or when you drive your car, and your foot isn't at a right angle.
Solid shoe, nothing spectacular. The laces feel somewhat cheap, and the shoe fits loose on the foot after a while. But they look fine and good for general purposes.
Really like the style but they're a little cheap looking. Very uncomfortable around the ankle area. Zappos is awesome though.
First pair I've had in 30 years. Much better than converse better fit an feel, look better too.
I bought these because of their style and good looks. I also hoped for a shoe that would be comfortable to wear in urban environments, specifically on days I teach, when I walk about three miles and am on my feet for about seven hours at a time. After wearing them one such day, I replaced their inner soles with Spenco cross-trainer insoles, and that did the trick. I like the shoe: it's snug (not tight), stylish (even my 21-year-old students commented favorably), and the dark gray color (not really black) appeals to me.
I felt like this sneaker looks much better in person than it does in the picture. I love the material it is made out of and it is very comfortable almost like wearing a slipper. The only critique I have is in regard to the white rubber bottom part of the shoe. It gets dirty pretty easily and it took me a while to get some of the dirt off but other than that is a great shoe for a great and accurate price.
I love these shoes and they are comfortable out of the box and always look great. They took me through a week long, heavy-walking trip, through Paris. They were practical and kept up with all the cool shoes worn by the locals! Zappos service fantastic, my first pair was too small, so returned them while the second pair was in route, arriving the next day!
Very uncomfortable in the toe, not enough space. Where the shoe folds it pinches the toe area. I wish I did not have to return them; they look cool.
This shoe is about the same quality as the Vans brand of the same type. After using these shoes a few hours a day over a month however, the threads started coming apart from the shoe. Also, this was on sale at the time I bought it, so maybe that was the issue? I know Pro-Keds for their quality and timelessness, but I was sad to see it coming apart at the seams. On a sizing note, make sure you get half a size larger than you usually would. If you try on Vans at a store, you will understand. These follow the same sizing and I used that to determine what I should get.
Essentially, it's the more manly version of the classic Keds Champion. It has a much firmer sole, and a little extra durability in the upper and heel. The insole is comfy, but if it doesn't met your needs, it's slipped out easily and an orthotic can be put it without sacrificing a good fit. Definitely a good shoe for warmer areas or Spring-early fall time.
I was originally going to pick up some Converse. Then I ran across this shoe, and I thought Hmm, Pro-Keds, really? I took a chance and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm happy I ended up getting these over some converse because they are more unique and stylish. The only problem I had with them is the fit. I ordered a 10, and thought they might be too small so I ordered a 10 1/2. They were a little big, so I kept switching between both pairs to see which fit best. I ended up sticking with the 10 and sending the other pair back. Now that I gave them some time, they fit fine, but they are definitely seriously pushing it.
