These boots are awesome. I bought a 1/2 larger and they are perfect. No breaking in, totally comfortable & very light weight. Very satisfied!!

After living in Chicago for 9 years and the mid-Atlantic for 6, I finally decided it was time to get myself some snow boots. Being a city-dweller, the thing I was looking for the most was traction, and waterproofness second. After looking at a lot of options on Zappos, like Merrells, I decided to try these. These looked as rugged as I could get but a lot more stylish than some of the others. I'm quite happy with my purchase. We've had several snows since I received them and some ice as well and they've kept me stable and dry through all of them. I chose the grey color because it seemed like they would disguise soiling the best, and I like the bright turquoise soles (it's like a hint of tropical waters at my feet in the midst of a blizzard). I normally wear a 10.5-11 and got these in an 11. They are very comfortable for my daily commutes when I'm wearing dress socks, and they work fine with light-weight trouser socks. They probably would be snug if I tried them with heavy socks--but I really can't imagine ever wanting to do that because the lining makes the boots quite warm (warm enough I think I would actually be bothered by them if I was a serious hiker). I'd never heard of this brand before and this was my first purchase. I am quite happy with them and would purchase again should I be in the need for more athletic footwear.

I love these! They are stylish and comfortable. After trying on about 20 different boots, I finally found a pair that I like. I ordered the purple but to me they were more like a blue, so I will exchange them for another color. They are very cool boots, not your normal clunky hiking boots.

I tried many pairs of hiking shoes and boots before deciding on the Ahnu Sugarpine. My feet are a challenge since I wear a 9 1/2 on one foot and a 10 1/2 on the other. My local camping stores had nothing larger than a 10 on hand. This pair provided the perfect combination of support and flexibility for my upcoming hiking trip. The yellow is a cross between yellow and tan, almost a neutral color. I have been wearing them around the house and on my daily dog walks...they are perfect right out of the box! Thanks, Zappos, for your patience as I tried on everything in your inventory...

I love these boots. I had to wear them around the house for about a week because like other reviewers stated, the tongue rubbed my ankles. That area is not bothersome now. I would suggest ordering 1/2 size up from your normal shoe size. Mine fits great with thin or thick socks. I love the deep teal color as well. I'm glad to have found the Ahnu brand as I've never heard of them. If their other shoes are as comfortable and stylish as this boot, I won't hesitate to buy more from them.

This is the first time I have purchased Ahnu boots, but thought I would give them a try. I went to Alaska for two weeks and wore these the entire time. I did lots of walking and it rained a lot, but my feet stayed dry and comfortable. I love these boots! Would definitely recommend them to a friend.

Not as much support as I would have liked and my feet get sweaty due to the waterproof liner. On longer hikes of over 8 miles I feel the lack of support. For short hikes they are comfortable. I do love the style and color.

I liked the style of these boots and thought that they might work for both hiking and ice/snow, but they lacked good ankle and arch support compared to other brands I tried. The amount of stability provided by the boot was good in the foot, but the material didn't support well enough around the ankle. These would have been sufficient for mild winter weather, but not for hiking on mixed terrain.

I just came back from my trip in Alaska. I only wore them for a few hours in my home before putting them on for many hikes I did in Anchorage, Denali, and Seward area. I had no problems - zero blisters, no tender spots, nothing. They did well in all kinds of conditions - rocky path with gravels; wet, muddy path; busy/grassy path; tundra with sinking, soft vegetation; and crossing rivers and creeks. They had good traction with no rubbing anywhere (I did wear good hiking socks as well) I'm so glad I got these. I did go 1/2 size up as others recommend, and they fit very comfortably.

The perfect boot! --- just not for me. The ridge at the bottom of the tongue rubs across my toes. Also, I almost never need to consider the wide version of a shoe, and am usually looking for the narrow option! But with this shoe, while the arch is perfect for my high, narrow, arches, the toe box is too narrow and my little toe is crushed with the normal width. On the PLUS SIDE, this boot is amazing and I wish it fit my feet. Ultra lightweight AND excellent support. Outstanding quality and style. I generally wear a size 10 sneaker and size 11 boot and I ordered the size 11, which fit well in length.

I love these boots...but I'm returning them. I love the colors and the feel on my foot. Really comfortable and cute. The one thing I didn't love for my purpose (hiking in Alaska) was the stiffness of the ankle part. I think they would be great for the snow, but I wanted something for summertime and more all around hiking. Settled on the Vasque Inhaler II GTX. If I ever need a new pair of snow hikers, these Anhu's would be the ones!

I adore these hiking boots. Purchased after an ankle injury, they were great for summer hiking in Telluride. Lightweight, waterproof, stiff enough to provide stability but not so much to impede quick movement.

My doctor gave me a little grief about not wearing supportive enough footwear. (I walk a lot.) I never liked the look of hiking boots; they're all so plug-ugly. But these! The Sugarpine is divine. I'm a size 8.5 Wide, and I ordered a 9 medium. They fit just fine, and give me plenty of arch support without having to swap out insoles. Of course I chose the red!

These shoes are perfect. They keep feet dry, are lightweight for doggie walks in the summer, and they fit perfectly (I wear size 11 womens).

I have a unique problem in that I've been scouring the internet for a boot that would faithfully serve 4 separate needs. I walk about 5 miles each day, largely on uneven city sidewalks littered with broken cobblestones, puddles of mud (or worse), and the occasional broken bottle. I need comfort and protection and a light-weight walker. I also ride passenger on my boyfriend's motorcycle and did not want to spend money on a specialized motorcycle boot. I need stability, protection, and warmth. I also occasionally hike on the weekends and need a boot that will fulfill all of the hiking prerequisites. To top it off, I am in New England, which means I need a boot that will keep me dry and warm in fall rainstorms and unbelievable blizzards (Boston does not shut down, no matter how many historically crazy back-to-back blizzards arrive, y'know?). Enter the Sugarpine. I'd never heard of Ahnu and I don't like high-top shoes or boots at all, but for my purposes and price point and for the multiple functions I'd hoped this boot would serve, I gave it a shot. I waffled for a full week on color and size but decided on the mulch/chocolate mint color (for general work-appropriateness) and a half-size larger, as recommended by other reviewers. The half-size up was a good idea, to be sure. I've been wearing them for 3 days now, over 10 miles about about an hour on the motorcycle, with thick socks for breaking-in purposes and the size is perfect. I initially tried them on with thin cotton socks to check for any stiff spots or any parts that might rub my ankles and so far, so good. They've been comfortable in both applications. I'm used to wearing Vionic sandals, so these have been an adjustment: the height, the ankle support, the weight in general, but these are by far the most light-weight comfortable hikers I've ever worn. They aren't clodhoppers like other hiking boots and the tread is appropriate for other applications while still providing safety and stability that you'd expect in a hiking boot. I haven't had a chance to test the waterproofing yet, but they kept my feet warm and cozy on a very cold night motorcycle ride in Massachusetts, so I'm not worried about their ability to keep me warm during the winter either. Give them a shot if you're still on the fence. You can't beat Zappos' return policy and I suspect you'll like them as I do.

I'm normally on the border between 8 and 8.5 but even the 8.5 was snug with hiking socks. Sturdy, comfortable, and super cute, but be sure to size up!

Wow! Very comfortable, easy to put it on and take it off. I walk in them in Spain for 10 to 15 kilometers a day. Not even one blister. I used insoles, because I need an extra arch support. My size is 6.5. I purchased 7. Very light and look super cool. I got lots of complements. Buy them!

I love these. They are so stylish yet comfortable and supportive for my high arches. Not having high tops before one side rubbed a bit on my ankle bone but only for a day.

These are really cute on, super comfy, and waterproof. Perfect for walking on trails or in the city. I didn't need any time to break them in. I ordered my regular size and they are a great fit.

These are great boots! I needed a pair of waterproof hiking boots that are comfortable, warm and good looking and I got them! I just came back from Norway where these boots were put to the real test and the only outcome from the test - these are perfect! I did not know this brand before I bought the boots, but I did my research on Zappos relying only on customers reviews and I am glad I did it.

I love these boots! I ordered them having never heard of the brand but thought they were cute. I wore them on a pretty strenuous hike in the mountains with not having them broke in...they were perfect...not a blister or nothing but comfortable great feeling feet! These are awesome!

This is my first ever pair of hiking/winter boots, so I don't have anything to compare it to other than the pair of North Face boots I also ordered but ended up returning. The vibram soles on these are great, vs. the North Face Arctic Guide which are more winter-specific and didn't have enough traction. I've walked around on dry as well as icy and slushy sidewalks in cities in these Ahnu Sugerpines, and also hiked up snowy mountains in Iceland in these boots, and they've been comfortable in all those conditions.

I like these boots so much but had to give it up (heart broken)!! Love the style & colours and design. BUT it's too narrow and too long for the usual 7.5 size, most unusual!! Very uncomfortable bec of its narrow width for a "regular" compared to other brands. I just can't see myself walking in them for more than 15 minutes without suffering the cramp and blisters, etc.

These boots could be way better. I mean, look at mountain goats. Mountain goats are awesome and even more awesome climbers! These boots suck. Boo Zappos, boo these shoes! I am currently working on a project to make these stupid boots less bulky and more comfortable!

I am sending them back. I know people love these boots. I find the colors odd and I could not easily get my feet into them and that has never happened before. Once I did it was not worth the extra tug, I found them mediocre as far as cushioning or support or they way they look. My Patagonia Drifter Hiking boots are yummy to put on. My feet slide right into a world of cushion with nothing rubbing and I can go and go in them. They are like all terrain vehicles for my feet. No Ahnu for me this time.
